I have a strong technical background in design and manufacturing and as my career progressed I have been able to complement this technical knowledge with sound business experience. I have a proven track record of leading and coordinating improvement projects which have brought tangible benefits to both my employers and customers.

I feel fortunate that my career has allowed me to work with a diverse mix of industries, people and cultures from manufacturing and pharmaceutical companies to financial services and retail organisations both within the UK and Europe

I bring an excellent level of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm for my work whether as a leader or a team member. I consider myself to be self-motivated and results orientated with a track record of success with many complex projects.

Employment History:

Self-employed (2010 – Present)


Self-employed photographer. I run my own business focused on photographing weddings. I am responsible for all aspects including but not limited to; marketing and customer targeting, website maintenance, vendor relationships, customer management, planning, photographing the events, editing images, album design, follow up sales, bookkeeping, budgets, tax returns and I make a fair cup of coffee.

Lean, Six Sigma Consultant

I have been working with local companies introducing Lean and Six Sigma principles. This has ranged from full process & business audits with value stream mapping, process levelling and future state improvement plans to 5S initiatives, defect/root-cause analysis, Kaizen events and procedural reviews.

Smurfit Kappa (1998 – 2009)

Technical Manager – Weston-super-Mare (Nov 2006 – Dec 2009).

Reporting to the site General Manager I was responsible for the Technical, Quality and Design functions. This included managing a direct team of 6. During my time there I was a key member of the team that was responsible for introducing a new IT system and the development and implementation of new working practices to take advantage of its new/improved functionality. As part of this, I was tasked with the creation of a new customer-facing department that was to bridge the gap between our customers’ needs or wants and our plants and groups capabilities. I put into place the departmental procedures and performance measures/indicators.

I led and was involved in many improvement projects with key customers such as GSK, Unilever, United Biscuits, Allied Distillers and L’Oreal. Projects ranged from operating line efficiencies, cost reduction programs, strategic material purchasing and innovative new pack design.

As the lead Lean Six Sigma champion, I applied these principles to my role in leading projects, collecting, analyse and presenting key KPI’s to the senior management team and customers.

Technical Sales Executive – Stalybridge (Mar 1998 – Oct 2006).

Reporting to the Sales Director as part of the sales team I dealt with any technical matters and provided the link between our customer’s needs and our site capabilities. I also ran many improvement projects with our customers. I worked closely with customers to develop many retailer friendly packaging solutions both in Point of Sale and Transit Display.

Danisco Pack – Skelmersdale (Mar 1991 – Mar 1998).

Design Manager.

Reporting to the Sales Director I was responsible for establishing and managing a Design function to support the growing business needs. I worked closely with the manufacturing site and customers focusing on how better design improves output and quality.

Sayfert Packaging – Burscough (Apr 1987 – Mar 1991).

Trainee Designer.

Reporting to the Design Manager my primary duties included drawing designs and sample making both by hand and utilising a CAD/CAM system and ensuring all filing was kept up to date.
