Cripps Barn wedding.

Henrietta and Simon were married at the beautiful wedding venue at Cripps Barn in the Cotswolds. The day started at the Swan Hotel Bibury, a stunning wedding venue in its own right set in the beautiful village of Bibury.

Both bride and groom prepared for the wedding day in the hotel so there was a little bit of juggling to do to keep them from seeing each other as they got ready.    

Grooms preparation.

The boys were in good spirit and the groom and groomsmen took the chance to have a little nerve settler at the bar as the bride and her bridesmaids had a glass of bubbly and got ready. The boys travelled to Cripps Barn in a VW camper van supplied by Silk & Satin Weddings, the van had been restored to a very high quality and looked amazing.

Once the boys had left I returned to the ladies who were finishing off and getting ready to get changed, Henrietta looks stunning in her dress and there were a few tears shed by her bridesmaids. Once the bride was ready we shot round to Cripps Barn to get a few photographs of the guests and await the bride’s arrival.  

Wedding ceremony.

The camper went back to collect the bridesmaids but the bride arrived in style in a black Porsche, not the easiest of cars for a bride in a wedding dress to get out of but Henrietta pulled it off. Cripps Barn was beautifully decorated as always and the wedding service was relaxed and informal.

Once the formalities were over we took the opportunity to get a couple of photographs with the couple and some candid photographs of the guests before the wedding breakfast and the speeches.

Before I knew it it was time to set up for the first dance, lighting a barn isn’t the easiest but I’ve had lots of practice in these environments and was delighted with the results. A lovely couple, a stunning venue and a beautiful day, all helped to get wedding pictures I am delighted with.

    Getting Married at Cogges
    It is important to us that your wedding is as individual as you are – the choices of catering, furniture or decoration are yours to make. We have contacts with many local suppliers who can help you plan your wedding as you want it. However, you have the freedom to work with any supplier, caterer or entertainer you choose.

    The stunning and spacious Wheat Barn can seat up to 200 guests, with a refurbished stone floor, and portable heating is included in the cost of hire.
    The more intimate and adjacent Barley Barn can seat about 60 guests or is an ideal choice to use as a dance or ceremony area.
    Each barn can be hired separately, or as a combined hire.

    The Tower Room…

    With its sophisticated decor and beautiful arched windows, The Tower Room is a perfect space for smaller, intimate weddings. It is licensed for up to 26 people, but you can have much fewer if you prefer – we’re happy to provide witnesses.

    Castle and Grounds

    Within the Castle and grounds, we are able to provide spacious dining and celebration areas within the Banqueting Hall and the Terrace Pavilion to seat up to 120 people. The historic Banqueting Hall is both warm in winter and cool in summer and the Terrace Pavilion has breath-taking views of the surrounding Cotswold Hills.

    Marquees can be positioned on our spacious lawns, each lawn has its own stunning backdrop of the most photogenic castle and ruins which can ‘wow’ up to 500 guests.

    Your drinks reception can then be held within our award-winning and fragrant gardens, with every view a photo opportunity.

    Alternatively, for those wanting an informal and modest wedding for up to 60 guests, Chandos Hall, within our cottages development is a neat solution.


    St Mary’s Chapel, dating from the 15th Century, and the resting place of Katherine Parr, the last wife of King Henry VIII, sits within the heart of the gardens and offers the ultimate place to hold a blessing to celebrate your marriage or reaffirm your vows.

    Alternatively, you can hold a religious or non–religious blessing within the grounds, or hold a civil ceremony in one of the four-room choices, from the historic to the informal.


    Is provided for up to 50 people in 12 separate cottages, adjacent to the Castle in our converted streamside mill complex, plus 6 lucky guests can take the new interior designed Sudeley Castle Guest Cottage, a 5-minute stroll from the Castle gatehouse, an ideal location for the bride and her entourage to depart from.


    Whatever you can dream of, sublimely presented, impeccably served and centre to your whole celebrations. In receipt of constant accolades from delighted guests, we can guarantee that you will be more than pleased with your choices.


    During the summer, the castle and grounds are open to the public during the day for all to enjoy. The gardens are then closed to the public by 5:00 pm and during all of November to March, thus giving you exclusive use of the Castle at no extra charge during these times. If you wish, it is possible to close the Castle outside of those times, on the discussion.

    Ellenborough Park (Weddings).

    With its beautiful Cotswold stone exterior, manicured grounds and stunning views of the Gloucestershire countryside, luxurious five-star hotel Ellenborough Park certainly makes for one of the UK’s most impressive wedding venues.

    The 16th-century manor house hotel is situated on the outskirts of Cheltenham and has been lovingly restored to offer brides and grooms a spectacular setting to host their big days.

    The venue is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and couples can choose from The Gallery, suitable for up to 120 guests, which features a double-height ceiling with a mezzanine level and opens out onto the pretty courtyard gardens – perfect for post-ceremony drinks.

    The De la Bere Court, situated in the main house and benefitting from a majestic vaulted glass atrium, can welcome from 30 up to 140 guests for the wedding breakfast and evening reception, while there’s also the option to have a marquee on the lawns for larger numbers.

    For those wanting more intimate ceremonies, the choices include The Library and The Royalist which are licensed for 18 and 12 guests respectively, with both featuring original oak panelling and period fireplaces.

    Both rooms can also host wedding breakfasts with The Library able to accommodate 20 guests and The Royalist 12.

    Ellenborough Park is also available for exclusive hire offering couples use of the entire hotel, including bedrooms, dining rooms and banqueting suites with the option to add on use of the spa.

    With the exclusive hire, the striking 19th century stone gazebo can also be used for brides and grooms wanting to say their vows in an even more special setting at the venue.

Catering for up to 150 guests, it’s an ideal spot for a wedding breakfast or an evening celebration.

    The Arundel
    The Arundel room provides a romantic setting in the Manor house for up to 50 guests and makes an ideal space for meetings.

    It can hold up to 40 cabaret-style, 60 theatres, a boardroom for 30, as well as corporate receptions, meetings day, and evenings for up to 40 delegates. The room is also well suited for private lunches and dinners up to 60 guests, boasting fantastic views of the gardens and Stroud valley.

    The Crellin
    The Crellin room, with its spiral staircase and oak panelled walls, is a perfect intimate dining area for up to 25 guests.
