This years southport air show was yet another fantastic day, we planned to go on the Saturday (luckily as Sunday was canceled by bad weather), despite this Saturday was a beautiful day, a little breezy but what do you expect at the beach?
The red arrows opened the event and put on a spectacular show as always giving me the chance to get some great photographs as they flashed by in front of me.
The event was very well supported and the beach was full of cars and people looking to the skies.
Some of my favorite photographs were of the planes flying over the pier.
The aerobatics of the old pop planes and helicopters was stunning and had me clicking away on my camera trying to capture a picture that would do their display justice.
The Typhoon is always a favorite of mine and getting photographs of the afterburners or the air being squashed so tightly on the wings that is causes clouds to form on the body is always a thrill.
The Lancaster bomber is always an beautiful sight and it is even better with an escort of a couple of spitfires, I looks so graceful, dignified and threatening but at the same time it always amazes me that it actually stays in the air.
I’m already looking forward to next years show and the opportunity to photograph all of these marvelous mechanical flying machines.
