Birtsmorton Court Wedding.
We featured Adi & Jon’s pre-wedding shoot a few months ago here and although it feels like only a few weeks ago their big day came round in no time.
I have been looking forward to photographing this wedding for a few reasons; firstly the venue, ‘Birtsmorton Court in Mavern’. I was the photographer at a wedding there last year and fell in love with the venue and the staff. So when I received the inquiry to be the photographer at Adi & Jon’s wedding I was all over it.
Then when I met and got to know Adi & Jon I was sold. I consider myself very lucky and I always get to work with great brides & grooms with lovely personalities. Adi & Jon were no exception. I felt like we clicked straight away. I knew their friends and family would be fun and they certainly were (and maybe a little nuts too in some cases!).
I started the day with Adi, the bride. In the garden house at Birtsmorton Court, Malvern and photographed her beautiful dress, shoes and some of the little details.

The atmosphere was relaxed and Adi, her four bridesmaids and mother soon got used to me wandering around and photographing them as they prepared for the wedding day. We even had her uncle and a few of the groomsmen pop in as they tried to figure out how to tie their cravats.
Adi’s wedding dress was traditional and she looked beautiful in it. It complimented her style and look perfectly. The bridesmaids all looked stunning in blue, a colour that would be repeated and photographed throughout the day.
Birtsmorton Court Church Wedding
At the church, the groomsmen greeted the guests while Jon waited for his bride in the church. He looked quite chilled sat with his brother Matt who was to be his best man on this his wedding day.
Adi arrived at the church with the bridesmaids and her Uncle Pat, who would be giving her away. It was a beautiful summer’s day and she looked stunning as she walked through the gardens at Birtsmorton towards the church and her waiting guests.
The church service although traditional had a good injection of humour from Reverend Mike and some beautiful readings from friends of the couple.
The grounds at Birtsmorton Court offer some stunning locations for a photographer. After getting some candid and group photographs I took a walk with the couple around the white garden. This time I found the famous gate. I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to chat with the lady of the house earlier that morning. She told me that her husband commissioned the gate as a gift to her. She assured me the angel was a representation of her but suggested it may be more accurate to think of it as a balance to her!
Post wedding photography.
I, of course, photographed the newlywed couple at the gate. I am delighted with the results. Just beyond the famous gate is a field, last year it was filled with corn and I photographed Sharon & Jason in the field of corn. This year the field contains oilseed rape and I was a little concerned the pollen may stain Adi’s beautiful wedding dress so we took some photographs at the edge of the field.
On the way back to the guests we all grabbed a homemade ice cream from the cart Adi had arranged the previous Wednesday. I have to say “good call Adi” it was delicious and on that hot day a very welcome treat.
After the guests had eaten and the speeches were done the evening guests started to arrive and there were some specific groups Adi wanted photographing.
Once the cake was cut and the first dance was over the light was just dipping and it bathed the grounds with a beautiful golden light. Adi had said that if the conditions were right she would like to make the most of it and get some additional photographs. So I quickly grabbed them both and we headed back out to the field. As the sun sets over the Malvern Hills it is just so beautiful there and I love the set of photographs we got from that brief session.
A little more candid photography and a chat with some of the guest and it was time for me to leave. I had another wedding to photograph the following morning but if I didn’t I would have loved to have stayed longer. Adi & Jon and all their friends and family were so welcoming that I didn’t want to leave.
A beautiful couple at a stunning venue, the sun shone all day long, the guests were all full of fun. I couldn’t have asked for a better day to remind me of just how much I love my job.
They are sunning it up on their honeymoon at the moment and I’m looking forward to catching up with them when they get back.
I hope you like this selection of images from the day. There are a few more on my facebook page. I will link to the site with the main set of photographs once the couple has had a chance to see them first.
